Horrockses Exhibition Now Open!

The new Horrockses exhibition at The Fashion and Textile Museum is now open! This brand new exhibition is displaying fashions from the 40's and 50's in celebration of one of the most respected ready-to-wear labels of the twentieth century.

The exhibition will be running from July 9th to the 24th October

Opening times are Wednesday - Sunday, 11Am - 6PM. Last entry at 5:15PM

Ticket prices are £6.50 for adults, £3.50 for students and concessions, free entry for under 12s

FTM joins in London 2010 Open Weekend with Happening Hankies

Sat/Sun 24-25 July / Drop in between 2pm and 4pm


The FTM is challenging visitors of all ages to come along to the museum, get creative and make their own design and print. It will then be printed onto a white handkerchief which can be kept as a memento of their achievement.

FTM staff will be on hand to support and encourage those who have no experience of design or print or teach those with some experience more advanced techniques.

Get creative this summer

If you fancy doing more than just flopping on a beach and want to learn something new this summer, we are running two great summer school courses. Handbag design (16-20 August) and Designing Shoes (23-27 August) are run by some of the best people in the business. Each five-day course is good value at £195 each or if you book both get a great discount and pay only £300.

Curator's talk and book signing

Your opportunity to hear from textile expert and Horrockses curator Chris Boydell, who has an infectious enthusiasm for all things Horrockses. The exhibition is accompanied by a book of the same title and author Chris will also be signing copies of it on the evening.

Opening 9th July 2010: our feel-good summer exhibition Horrockses Fashions - Off The Peg Style in the '40s and '50s.


Beautiful summer dresses and glamorous evening wear were specialities of Horrockses Fashions Limited, manufacturer of one of the most respected ready-to-wear labels of the 1940s and 1950s.


The company is best known for its full-skirted dresses that were sought after by women everywhere and were even worn by Queen Elizabeth II.

The exhibition opens on 9th July and runs until 24th October at the Fashion and Textile Museum.
